ARISU - 1-5 years old, 75 pounds, friendly, excitable, jumpy, happy happy!

Arisu (pronounced AH-REE-SUE with the emphasis on the AH) is a dog who will keep you moving. We are learning about him and so far, we are seeing a giant, jovial, energetic boy who needs lots of exercise and even more attention! He jumped on me a lot. He jumps up a lot. Excitement just does it for this boy! He got me pretty muddy but that is par for the course when hanging out with shelter dogs! Their pent up energy from being stuck in a cage is obvious and comes out in droves many times when they finally have the opportunity to get outside. Arisu is fun loving and looking for experiences to be had with a new family! He did show me he sits on command and already learned a few additional commands in only a few minutes with me! I bet training this boy will be so much fun! Remember keeping his mind working is just as important as keeping his body moving in exercise! We don't yet know how he feels about other dogs so we will update when we learn more!

For now, he is hanging out in a back kennel waiting for a spot in front so if you don't see him, please just ask! 

Field Trip Update!

I've been taking Arisu out a lot lately, he is so well behaved once he gets out of the kennel. Here are my notes from a couple of field trips. .I'd also like to take a shot at updating his profile. 

Field Trips with Arisu to the Boardwalk on March 10 and 12th

Arisu went on two field trips to the boardwalk this week. We were both enjoying the first trip but had to cut it short due to the wind and rain, so we returned again on a nice sunny day. On the first trip, he did fine getting into the car, but got a little nervous when we started moving. It was probably a new experience for him. On the second trip, he hopped right in and sat while he was hooked in. He sat calmly for the ride staring at me and out the window. He got excited when we parked, but he was calm and (unlike a lot of dogs) got out with little drama.

He walked along the boardwalk next to me, swiveling his head and sniffing as he soaked in the new environment. He walked right beside me, and if he got a little ahead and felt the leash tighten, he stopped and looked back to see what I was doing. He passed several dogs with little more than a sideways glance. Several people stopped and commented on what a striking and well behaved dog he was. and Arisu enjoyed all the attention. We walked down to the beach where he laid down in the sand sniffing the air and relaxing in the sunshine. We walked back on the boardwalk and when I sat down on a bench, he jumped up and sat next to me.

On the way back we stopped at the drive-thru for lunch. When we pulled up to the window, the lady handing us the bag started laughing at the look Arisu was giving her, as if he wanted something too. I assured her I would be sharing some of my food with him. When we drove away, Arisu fell asleep for the remainder of the ride.
